Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue

Be A Horse Angel!

Give the Gift of Life!  As a Thank-You, Birthday Present or Special Occasion, consider supporting one of our beautiful Thoroughbreds!

Many of our horses remain in our care for extensive periods of time, and their expenses are supported entirely or partially by grants and general donations. Only a handful of very fortunate horses are supported in-part or in-whole by private "feed sponsors".

If you donate $20 or more in the name of your colleague, friend or family member to any of our horses, not only is your gift tax deductible, but we will mail them a version of the following thank-you card (inside pages only are shown).  The text and photograph will be "personalized" to the horse you choose for them to sponsor: this one is for Rush!

Some of the Horses Available For Sponsorship

Some of the following horses have been with SCTR since 2008 and are available for adoption, but either have no sponsors, or
partial sponsorship only. Some are long-term residents or retirees which SCTR will likely be supporting indefinitely. Can you help
one of them by giving a gift of feed sponsorship?

1. Ashland Rose (1989)

This lovely black-type race mare by Flying Paster was taken in by SCTR in 2010 when the rescue she was placed in could no
longer care for her. Ashland had been formerly rescued from slaughter at auction in 2009. Ashland's rehab was slow, but she is now healthy and enjoying life in pasture with our other retirees.
One time sponsorship checks can be mailed to:
SCTR, P.O. Box 5, Norco, CA 92860 along with the name and address of the person to whom you are gifting the
sponsorship.  To donate a one time gift of any amount to Ashland's care or become a monthly sponsor, please use
the donation button and send an email to sctbrescue@live.com with the giftee sponsor's name and address:

2. Real Greeley (2005)

This lovely gelding by Mr Greeley was rescued at auction. One time sponsorship checks can be mailed to: SCTR, P.O. Box 5, Norco, CA 92860 along with the name and address of the person to whom you are gifting the sponsorship.  To donate a one time gift of any amount to Greeley's care or become a monthly sponsor, please use the donation button and send an email to sctbrescue@live.com with the giftee sponsor's name and address:

3. Donna's Dance (2005)

This young mare was rescued at auction in September 2008 at the age of three, has been available for adoption since 2009,
and has no sponsors. Unraced, but officially "worked" in southern California, Dancer is athletic, sound, and sweet. Dancer resides with one of our professional trainers in Yucaipa.
One time sponsorship checks can be mailed to: SCTR, P.O. Box 5, Norco, CA 92860 along with the name and address of the person to whom you are gifting the sponsorship.  To donate a one time gift of any amount to Dancer's care or become a monthly sponsor, please use the donation button and send an email to sctbrescue@live.com with the giftee sponsor's name and address:

4. Miss Quickly (1998)

Missy was rescued at auction to prevent her from shipping to slaughter in 2008 for $160 at age ten, after a short career as a
racehorse and subsequently as a broodmare. Missy has an old knee injury and arthritis that limit her potential placement
through adoption and no sponsors.
One time sponsorship checks can be mailed to: SCTR, P.O. Box 5, Norco, CA 92860 along with the name and address of the person to whom you are gifting the sponsorship.  To donate a one time gift of any amount to Missy's care or become a monthly sponsor, please use this donation button and send an email to sctbrescue@live.com with the giftee sponsor's name and address:

5. Noble Gambler (2004)

This incredibly handsome and enormous young gelding was taken in by SCTR after breaking down in his second and final race at Hollywood Park in July 2008. Gambler's rehab has been long and slow; he had destroyed his suspensory apparatus and sustained a "low bow", but he is now sound as a paddock pet although likely to be a permanent SCTR resident. Gambler resides at our facility in Apple Valley. Gambler has been fortunate to enjoy sponsorship from our friends Crick and Jamie (thank you!),  however he would appreciate additional feed sponsors. One time sponsorship checks can be mailed to: SCTR, P.O. Box 5, Norco, CA 92860 along with the name and address of the person to whom you are gifting the
sponsorship.  To donate a one time gift of any amount to Gambler's care or become a monthly sponsor, please use the donation button and send an email to sctbrescue@live.com with the giftee sponsor's name and address:

6. Persistent (2002)

Percy was rescued from a kill buyer's lot in December 2008, in horrible body condition, with desperately overgrown feet, and an old ankle injury. His feet were in such bad shape that it took farrier work until February 2010, for him to be comfortable, but he is now available for adoption as a flat trail or arena horse. Percy resides at our facility in Apple Valley. Percy has one sponsor, Kara (thank you!), however he would greatly appreciate additional sponsors of his care. One time sponsorship checks can be mailed to: SCTR, P.O. Box 5, Norco, CA 92860 along with the name and address of the person to whom you are gifting the sponsorship.  To donate a one time gift of any amount to Percy's care or become a monthly sponsor, please use the donation button and send an email to sctbrescue@live.com with the giftee sponsor's name and address:

7. Sumo (ARG) (1996)

This sweet gelding was rescued in the fall of 2013.  Sumo has an old foot fracture that severely limits his use and he is likely to be a permanent resident. One time sponsorship checks can be mailed to: SCTR, P.O. Box 5, Norco, CA 92860 along with the name and address of the person to whom you are gifting the sponsorship.  To donate a one time gift of any amount to Sumo's care or become a monthly sponsor, please use the donation button and send an email to sctbrescue@live.com with the giftee sponsor's name and address:

9. Shelley Creek (2007)

Shelley was first seen at auction as a yearling in December 2008, and was rescued at auction when she ran through a second
time the following month in January 2009. Shelley had been started under saddle despite severe inflammation in her knees,
and a crooked left front leg. The inflammation subsided, and her knees closed, however her left front leg will always be crooked and she will be unable to sustain the weight of a rider. Shelley is retired with SCTR, and resides in pasture with several other SCTR retirees and long-term residents.
One time sponsorship checks can be mailed to:
SCTR, P.O. Box 5, Norco, CA 92860 along with the name and address of the person to whom you are gifting the
sponsorship.  To donate a one time gift of any amount to Shelley's care or become a monthly sponsor, please use the donation button and send an email to sctbrescue@live.com with the giftee sponsor's name and address:
