Some of SCTR's horses are fortunate to have sponsors - private individuals or organizations that contribute to the monthly care of our horses while they await adoption into a permanent home, or while they are in rehabilitation prior to being advertized for adoption. Some are not so fortunate, and here we list the horses that currently have no sponsors or partial sponsorship only. Sponsorship amounts for a specific horse can be one-time/one month only, ideally monthly, or as frequently or infrequently as you wish to donate to the care of the horse. Monthly sponsorships can be as small as $10 per month, up to a full sponsorship amount of $200/month, depending on the means and generousity of the individual donor. Commitments to cover a horse's shoeing/trimming bill, or other special needs, are also welcomed. We will welcome you to visit your sponsored horse; will update you regularly on their progress and provide current photographs; and of course all of your donated sponsorship amounts are fully tax deductible. And the horses will be very grateful
If your sponsored horse is adopted, and no longer in need of your support, we will let you know immediately.

The following horses are advertized for adoption, however they either have no sponsors, or partial sponsorship only. Can you help one of them?
1. Donna's Dance
This five year young mare was rescued at auction in September 2008, and she needs additional sponsors! Unraced, but officially "worked" in southern California, Dancer is sound, and has a big personality! Her best friend is Desert's Honey Cup, a six year old bay mare who also was unraced but "worked" at California racetracks. They even look alike
You can make a one-time or monthly payment through this donation box to Dancer's care. To pledge a monthly amount, please contact us at sctbrescue@live.com, and sponsorship checks can be mailed to SCTR, 635 Hacienda Drive, Norco, CA 92860.

2. Desert's Honey Cup
A six year young unraced mare was rescued at auction in February 2009 for $95, skinny, depressed, and weak through her hind end. She almost collapsed when they rode her through the ring at auction. That was the second time that Honey had been run through auction in seven days. It took a while for us to put the weight on Honey that she needed, however, Honey is very sweet, her spirits are revived, she is available for adoption, and her best friend is Donna's Dance. As of January 2010, Honey is completely rehabilitated, and looking wonderful. If you would like to help support Honey while she is awaiting a new home, you can make a one-time or monthly payment through this donation box to Honey's care. To pledge a monthly amount, please contact us at sctbrescue@live.com, and sponsorship checks can be mailed to SCTR, 635 Hacienda Drive, Norco, CA 92860.

1. Lola
Lola is an unnamed three year old filly, that we rescued at auction in March 2009 with funds supplied by the Fans of Barbaro to whom we are deeply grateful. Her initial expenses have been covered by the Fans of Barbaro, but her ongoing care is not sponsored. It took several months for us to return Lola to a completely healthy state, and to reinstate her confidence in humans. However, as of per a veterinary evaluation and x-rays taken in January 2010, Lola has been pronounced completely sound for all future riding disciplines, and is now awaiting her first training as a riding horse. If anyone would like help support Lola and her training with us, you can make a one-time or monthly payment through this donation box to Lola's care. To pledge a monthly amount, please contact us at sctbrescue@live.com, and sponsorship checks can be mailed to SCTR, 635 Hacienda Drive, Norco, CA 92860.

2. Noble Gambler (2004)
This incredibly handsome and enormous young gelding was taken in by SCTR after breaking down in his second and final race at Hollywood Park in July 2008. His care was initially sponsored by several Fans of Barbaro, and The Exceller Fund, to whom we are very grateful. Gambler's rehab has been long and slow; he had destroyed his suspensory apparatus and sustained a "low bow", but he continues to make progress. He is likely to be a long-term if not permanent SCTR resident, and has been fortunate to enjoy partial sponsorship from our friend Jamie G., however additional sponsorship would be gratefully received.
To pledge a monthly amount, please contact us at sctbrescue@live.com, and sponsorship checks can be mailed to SCTR, 635 Hacienda Drive, Norco, CA 92860.

3. Persistent (2002)
Percy was rescued from a kill buyer's lot in December 2008, in horrible body condition, with desperately overgrown feet, and an old ankle injury. His feet were in such bad shape that it has taken farrier work until now, January 2010, for him to be comfortable in front, but he needs more time for his hind feet to fully recover. Percy received initial sponsorship from several Fans of Barabaro, The Exceller Fund, and two anonymous donors, and currently has one partial sponsor, thank you Melissa B.!, towards his care. Please consider contributing to the completion of his sponsorship.
